Become a Fellow of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine (FECSM)
The Multidisciplinary Joint Committee of Sexual Medicine (MJCSM) and the European Society for Sexual Medicine (ESSM) collaborate in order to provide to medical doctors competency certification in Sexual Medicine. The examination took place for the first time in 2012, and it is normally carried out once in every 2 years.

Eligibility criteria
Only registered medical practitioners, who are accredited as medical specialists (having received a degree of specialty at least in the last 12 months), in their country of practice, or medical practitioners who are General Practitioners with more than 5 years’ clinical experience of unsupervised independent practice, are eligible to apply – for all details refer to the Guide to the exam section.
Candidates will need to provide certification of appropriate completed courses or clinical clerkships or practice, or else forms of education and experience in their curriculum in Sexual Medicine, such as ESSM School/Advanced Course, clear sexology Education in their country, accredited course with CME (provided by a National Scientific Society) education and experience.
Pass or fail results will be send personally to each candidate; in the case of failure a detailed description of the cutoff for pass-fail decision will be provided. In the case of success candidate name will be also listed on the mjcsm website in the section related to successful candidates.
In the event of fail-decision refusal, candidate is invited to follow the appeal procedure by completing the “Appeal form of the Fail decision of the exam” and sending within 15 days from notification of exam to mjcsm@aimgroup.eu. The appeal procedure will be managed by the Examination Committee that will evaluate the appeal and send a point-by-point reply with a final decision to the candidate.
It is recommended that this cover form is used when submitting a procedural document to the MJCSM Examination committee to Appeal of the Fail decision of the exam. Please note that this form cannot be submitted if not fully completed. It should always be accompanied by a written submission or pleading. This form can be downloaded from MJCSM website and completed on screen. If you are completing the form by hand, please write legibly using black or blue ink.

The maximum number of attempts of by a candidate is three.
Examination format
Competency on the curriculum shall be accessed through a written exam consisting of 100 multiple choice questions to be answered in 3 hrs.
Preparation material and ESSM Preparation Courses
The ESSM Manual of Sexual Medicine (2nd updated edition 2015) is the preparation material endorsed by the ESSM.
The publication will be made available (as online pdf version) to all applicants approved to sit the exam
The Preparation Courses are organized by the ESSM (European Society for Seuxal Medicine), dates, format and all details will be available on Society’s website.
The MCQ results will be analyzed by using the arithmetic mean. Questions will be as follows:
The Right answers will be scored as 1 , whilst wrong/missing answers will be scored as 0. The calculation of the pass mark will be performed after analysis of the results and definition of the distribution curve.
