Before reading this section for information on the MJCSM Exam, make sure you have gone through the Guide to the Exam:

1. Am I eligible to sit the Exam?
You are eligible if
1.1. you are a registered medical practitioner in your country who completed residency/training in a medical speciality. In the case your country does not establish General / Family Medicine as a speciality of their own, you should be a general physician with more than 5 years of clinical independent practice.
(Please notice that you must have the specilist degree – or document certifying more than 5 years of general practice – by the exam date. Example: you can apply in August 2019 (still as resident) for the January 2020 Exam, as long as you get the specialist degree in December 2019. May you be expected to get the degree until March 2020, your application can be accepted after appreciation by the Exam Comittee).
AND
1.2. you completed some course, clinical clerkship, or else forms of education and experience in Sexual Medicine (ex: ESSM School, sexology Education, accredited with CME, by a National Scientific Society), that will be evaluated for adequacy by the exam committe.
AND
1.3 you have two recommendation letters (using the preformated template given in the online application), from a Head of department or a FECSM member.
2. How can I apply to the Exam?
The application form will been timely launched on the MJCSM website.
Providing you are eligible (see item #1 on this FAQ section), you should
2.1. register in the MJCSM logbook.
2.2. fill out at least 12 clinical cases in the logbook, which will be evaluated by the Committee. (refer to the instructions you wrote)
2.3 deliver the following documents:
2.3.1. a fully-completed APPLICATION form [link], which will include a comprehensive description of their educational and clinical experience in the field of Sexual Medicine; can also include a list of publications in the field of Sexual Medicine, if any (not mandatory).
2.3.2. upload a proof of medical degree (university certificate), written in English.
2.3.3. upload the two letters of recommendation mentioned above.
2.3.4. upload a proof of license to practice or equivalent registration from the medical authority in your country (if applicable).
2.3.5. process the payment of the registration fee.

Your registration will be completed when you receive email confirming eligibility AND that your fee has been received by the organizers.
3. How can I get the Manual of Sexual Medicine?
You can get access to the free online-readable version, on the ESSM website,
3.1. after you register online as a member
3.2 OR after you have been approved to sit the exam.
4. How can I have an access to the log book?
You must first ask for your credentials by sending email to l.vignozzi@dfc.unifi.it
Then go to the Logbook section of the MJCSM website, click the “logbook register/login” link and follow the procedures. You will quickly receive an email by WordPress with a link to complete your registration process and set up a permanent password to log in.
5. How I will select a supervisor?
A list of already available supervisors will be provided for you to select on the logbook platform. Otherwise the committee will assign you one.
(If you have someone else in mind who complies with the criteria, please refer to the supervisors application procedure in the MJCSM website. An Assigned Educational Supervisor should fulfill the stated criteria by MJCSM
6. How many cases am I required to describe in the logbook? Are there any case samples? Can all the cases be about same issues?
You are required to fill in at least 12 cases . These must comply with a structured 250-word vignette as follows:
6.1. Present complaint.
6.2. Diagnostic workup made.
6.3. Treatment chosen.
6.4. Outcomes / progress.
You are advised to provide as diverse cases as you can manage from your clinical experience. Quality, variety and eligibility will be evaluated by the Exam Committee.
7. From whom I can obtain a recommendation letter?
You are advised to obtain a recommendation letter from an entitled expert in the field of Sexology or Sexual Medicine that you have contacted with during your education in the field (ex: a lecturer, a clinical supervisor, etc.)
8. When will apllications for the next Exam and Preparation course be open?
Strict deadlines are still subject to change, but you should prepare for the following timings:
Application opening: June to August 2021.
Application outcome: early October 2021.

9. When and where the preparation course will take place?
The preparation course for the 2022 edition of the MJCSM Exam will take place just before the Exam and the annual ESSM Congress (in January/February 2022 – dates tbd), in Bari, Italy (exact venue will be announced in due time)

9.2. MJCSM Exam (and ECPS Exam): dates tbd.
10. Can I have a letter of confirmation that I am taking the exam, so that I can apply for a visa?
Once your application is accepted, you will receive a written confirmation by email.
